28 - Determination of Mechanical Properties in Various Ductile Irons Afrer Subjecting Them to Long

Abstract:

The study objective was to determine the mechanical property stability under elevated temperature conditions of a variety of cast irons and steels. It was not intended to show optimized properties for various grades of cast irons and steels and, in fact, the data presented should not be used in this way. Tensile, impact and rotating bending fatigue properties of as-cast, normalized, quench and tempered, and austempered ductile iron and of normalized 1045 and carburized 8620 steels were measured at room temperature and after specimen exposure to elevated temperature(s).
