Ductile Iron Society Production Seminar

Partnered with the AFS North Mexico Chapter

December 1, 2011

The Ductile Iron Society held its first ever Ductile Iron Production Seminar in Saltillo, Mexico from November 29 to December 1, 2011.

This was done in partnership with the AFS North Mexico Chapter.  The turn-out was outstanding; as they had 60 attend the seminar.  A huge thanks goes out to Patricio Gil and his assistants from Blackhawk de Mexico foundry in Monterrey, Mexico for making all the arrangements.  Thanks also to the instructors who were James Wood of the DIS, Al Alagarsamy consultant, Gene Muratore of Rio Tinto, and Fred Linebarger of Miller & Company.

This seminar was spread over two days covering a vast area of the Ductile Iron Production.  As a treat at the end, attendees were allowed to bring examples of castings with defects into the room so that the panel of experts could discuss with the audience.

Some of these castings ranged from 1 pound to castings weighing so much as a couple hundred pounds.

At the end the attendees went outside for this group picture.

The DIS hopes to offer a similar seminar again in the future to our friends in the foundry industry to our south.
