Position Description:

The Metal Casting Center and Foundry 4.0 Center are nationally recognized leaders in foundry research, applied technology, and direct technical industry assistance. Two facilities allow us to have full pilot plan capacity in a modern foundry setting and Industry 4.0 technologies, which are enhanced with applied research and testing. The materials research and foundry-focused site is located in the Applied Engineering Building on UNI's campus in Cedar Falls, IA. The Foundry 4.0 Center, featuring automation and robotics, 3-D printing cells, and IIOT sensors, is located at the TechWorks campus and Innovation Hub in Waterloo, IA. Our industry-leading approach combines direct industry assistance with university research and student engagement.

UNI is searching for its next Director to lead the Metal Casting and Foundry 4.0 Centers. The Director will be responsible for: providing leadership and direction to the Metal Casting and Foundry 4.0 centers; directing and overseeing interaction with casting industry clients and technical organizations; developing policies, objectives, and initiatives; designing and leading research studies; evaluating effectiveness of the centers' programs and policies; ensuring research and development activities maintain the centers' recognition, reputation and financial sustainability; and promoting the centers at local, state, national, and international levels as required.

Education Requirements:

Master's degree in industrial technology, engineering or related field required.

Required Qualifications:

At least seven years of managerial experience in the metal casting industry and/or industrial manufacturing related to the casting industry; demonstrated understanding of current business practices and organizations; knowledge of present and emerging metal casting technologies and a conceptual vision of the future of the industry; and an understanding of sponsored applied research required.

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience working with and developing students preferred.
